HARRODS CREEK FIRE WEB SITE

Northfield is indeed fortunate to be located within the Harrods Creek Fire District which is considered to be one of the finest fire departments in the state. In addition to normal duties of fire fighting the HCFD also has a very fine EMS response team / program. If you have a serious medical emergency and call 911 there will be a dual response by both Harrods Creek EMS and Jefferson County EMS. More often than not HCFD will arrive first and as such will respond with a full engine company including EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) and possibly a Paramedic.
.....The HCFD unit is fully equipped for any medical emergency and is then augmented by the Jefferson County Unit that always has a Paramedic onboard. The Jefferson Co. ambulance will always perform the hospital transport. Its interesting to note that in serious structure fires and rescues the St. Matthews fire department will respond with the HCFD noting that the St. Matthews station is actually closer to Northfield than the HCFD ( station 2 ) at River Road and Lime Kiln. Longtime fireman and paramedic, Chris Aponte is the HCFD Chief and can be contacted at 228-1351.
