......Northfield city government is managed by a mayor who is elected to a four year term and six council members who serve for two years. The cities financial matters are assigned to the city treasurer. All administrative duties are conducted by the city clerk who in addition to other task, collects the city tax which is set by the City Council based on values established by Metro Louisville government.
......The Harrods Creek Fire District provides coverage to Northfield along with other areas within its district and is funded through property taxes as collected by Metro Louisville government which also provides EMS services for Northfield along with the Harrods Creek Fire Dept. Garbage, grounds and road maintenance are furnished by companies under contract to the City of Northfield.
