.....As you drive into Northfield (from any entrance) one can not help but note the pristine condition of the grounds - all manner of plantings, trees trimmed to perfection and grass manicured like a thick green carpet. The POC (Point of Contact) for this area of responsibility is Council member Dorothy McNair who has spent countless volunteer hours overseeing / supervising our contract grounds work. "Dotty" is always working on this or that planting project along with the day to day maintenance of all the public grounds. As you can see from the photograph above, Northfield places a great deal of importance on its park like appearance.
.....A long established city organization - The Northfield Garden Club, as the name would imply, has for decades been active in this venue and over the years has sponsored the planting of flowers and shrubs throughout the city. This club in effect serves as a"grounds support group" for the city and promotes an ever growing (no pun intended) commitment to keep our "curb appeal" at a high level.
.....In addition to the grounds - the city is committed to keeping the Northfeild Streets in top condition. A "pot hole" was once noted on one of our roads about five years ago and within a matter of hours the Mayor made certain that this "blight" was removed. From road surface to curb conditions, Northfield streets are maintained in "as new" condition. In the winter it is not uncommon to find Northfield streets cleared of snow days before other subdivisions and always open even when the public highways are impassable!
